Pietà (compassion) came about after a dream I had one night of a fragmented artwork pivoting around a central cross. The exact subject and detailed imagery wasn't clear to me, but when I woke up I decided to translate what I thought I had seen into a painting. As it evolved I saw a clear theme of motherhood in light of Christ's death and resurrection. New layers kept emerging and in the midst this kaleidoscopic realm of seen and unseen acts of maternal love, the cross continued to refract light onto it all.

I stood back from the painting and saw an unexpected portrait of Christ subtly emerging, barely visible, but present and filling the entire background. You may or may not notice it. From where I stood, the crown of thorns seemed to line the top, with Christ's chin, neck and torso extending down the bottom of the painting. It reminded me of a simple but profound truth. Our job amidst all the complexities of our various roles is to fix our eyes on Christ. We cannot authentically do anything in love apart from Him.

This fine art Giclée reproduction is of an original artwork by Australian artist, Kaye Redman. Produced by a master printmaker and with individual care on Elite 320gsm Cotton Rag using archival inks. The artist is involved in approving the media and quality at all stages of production and each reproduction has my artist signature in the bottom left or right hand corner.

This reproduction is part of a limited edition and is covered by the Art House Lifetime Replacement Warranty. If the reproduction changes colour or is damaged in any way, for any reason, it can be replaced for 50% of the current retail price.

  • Local pickup is not available for fine art reproductions. Each reproduction is made to order, so I do not keep stock on hand. Please select your preferred shipping method and I will ensure your reproduction is packaged carefully and shipped in either a flat mailer or tube (depending on the size). Please allow up to 9 business days for your order to ship. 

  • All reproductions are printed on Cotton Rag Paper, which is not paper at all, but rather very fine cotton fibres woven into a paper-like product. Cotton Rag is the media of choice due to its archival qualities and similarities to the paper artists paint on. Cotton Rag paper is around 300-320gsm.

  • Each reproduction is printed with Canon Lucia EX Pigment inks  - long lasting, archival - tested to last 80-100 years.

  • This is an UNFRAMED reproduction - a frame is not included. Consult your local framer for the best way to frame your work. Fine Art Cotton Rag Reproductions should be framed behind glass, using a mat board to separate them from the glass. Display the art print away from direct sunlight. You may wish to purchase a ready-made frame. However, please check measurements beforehand as there is no guarantee that the artwork will fit perfectly into a store-bought frame. You may need to carefully trim the print, or purchase a custom mat board to surround the image first. I recommend framing your print professionally with a custom-cut white mat board and custom frame.

  • All Kaye Redman Art Limited Edition Reproductions are covered by a Lifetime Warranty. If anything should happen to your reproduction we will replace it for half its current price provided the reproduction is returned to us. The reproduction must be returned to Kaye Redman Art with the Certificate of Authenticity in order for us to approve and resign the new replacement reproduction.

  • Due to the variables inherent between the countless different devices available for viewing images online, please understand that the colours you see on your screen may vary slightly from the reproduction you receive. We do however, guarantee that the artist has personally compared the original artwork with a printed proof made by a master printmaker and is satisfied that each reproduction will be the best possible match in terms of tone, colour and in some cases, texture also. In fact, sometimes, it's difficult to tell the original apart from the reproduction!
